ALBIS 2008
On this webpage we will inform you about the German-Czech EU exercise „Albis 2008“ which was organised by the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) and the Czech Fire Rescue Service (HZS).
The currently observed climate change increases the probability of transnational floods as occurred on the river Elbe in the years 2002 and 2006. It raises the question of whether and how the involved danger defense authorities can operate together across international borders.
For this reason „Albis 2008“ (albis = Latin for Elbe) took place in Litoměřice, near Ustí nad Labem, on the ground of a former barrack from 16 till 18 May 2008. This exercise was co-funded by the European Union and gave the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) and the Czech Fire Rescue Service (HZS) the opportunity to practise a transnational flood-scenario.
